Michelle Hemley

Michelle Hemley’s passion is inspiring and educating as many people as possible to achieve their sporting dreams and live a more active lifestyle. She founded Team Hemley Training in 2012 and now leads a team of Strength & Conditioning and Specialist Sports Coaches to deliver the Team Hemley Programs, while she focuses on staff training, consulting and resource creation.

As a leading Exercise Professional with over 20 years’ experience, Michelle has successfully worked with hundreds of individuals of all ages. She has a varied professional background in physical education, health promotion, exercise physiology, sport participation strategy and high-performance sport. After initially gaining a Bachelor of Exercise and Health Science at UWA in 2003, Michelle has completed additional post graduate study in the areas of Physical Education (UWA), Sports Nutrition (International Olympic Committee), Exercise Physiology (Charles Sturt University) and Business (Mt Eliza Executive Education).  She was the QLD Sport Strategy Manger for the Australian Sports Commissions AASC program through 2010-11 and her work in the Health Promoting Schools arena won an Australian Health Project Award for Community Engagement in 2014. She has been a regular keynote speaker, having presented at numerous schools, network meetings and conferences Australia wide, as well as consulting to schools, clubs and government.

Michelle is extremely community orientated and loves nothing more than engaging with community groups, schools, committees and sporting clubs. She was an ambassador for the Sunshine Coast Council at the 2012 Senshu International Marathon in Japan, awarded the prestigious Club Member of the Year at Fremantle Surf Lifesaving Club in 2003-4, has previously sat on sub-committees and board of managements for Fremantle Surf Club, School Sport WA, Triathlon WA, Noosa Triathlon Club and is currently on the Deakin University Course Advisory Board for the Exercise and Sport Science accreditations.

Practicing what she preaches. Michelle is an accomplished athlete having completed nine Ironman Triathlons, five marathons, a 20km Rottnest Channel Swim crossing and numerous other endurance sports challenges. Top results include a podium finish at the Hawaiian Ironman Triathlon (age group), finishing as the 3rd placed female at both the Senshu International Marathon in Japan and Great Ocean Road Marathon in Victoria, many age-group titles in Triathlon over a range of distances and State Champion titles in open water swimming and surf lifesaving.

Michelle’s vision in creating Team Hemley was to develop a thriving community which encourages long-term engagement in sport, community and active lifestyles. She is proud of what Team Hemley has achieved so far and looks forward to the future with great excitement
